How Is a Neck Lift Performed?
During a neck lift procedure, IV sedation or general anesthesia is used. An incision is placed in the crease under your chin. Two additional small incisions are placed behind each earlobe. Liposuction is performed initially through these incisions to sculpt the jawline. There is deeper fat in the midline that liposuction alone cannot address and this will be assessed and removed directly. Finally, your surgeon will modify the platysma muscle under your chin to improve neckline defintion. The procedure typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours.

Immediately after surgery, patients can begin to see a more defined jawline with double chins reduced. A compressive wrap is placed for the first night after surgery. One the day after the procedure, you will be switched over to a facial sling, which you will wear all day for 1 week and in the evenings only for another week. It takes about a full week for the bruising and swelling to dissipate and can take several weeks for the final results to appear. There will be faint scars where the incision were made, but these are very small and will fade over time. After five days, you can return to work.
