While there was a lot to see underwater, there was even more to share above the ocean floor. As a Clinical Professor of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas, Dr. Russell Kridel was a featured distinguished faculty member at the 6th International Update Course: Otolaryngology Underwater held by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Several hundred Otolaryngology, Head & Neck physicians, including Facial Plastic surgeons, from all around the world attended the conference in Cayman Brac. Dr. Kridel presented 6 scientific lectures on subjects including: Septoplasty, Rhinoplasty and Face Lift, to attendees who were seeking additional medical education and training to expand their own surgical skills. As a world-renowned expert in Rhinoplasty, Dr. Kridel presented three scientific lectures on the topic often referred to as Nose Jobs: Septoplasty and Nasal Airway Considerations in Rhinoplasty”, “Basic Open Rhinoplasty”, and “Lessons Learned from 30 years of Rhinoplasties”. Having written over 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications on Facial Rejuvenation and the Aging Face, Dr. Kridel is also well known for his innovative techniques in hiding incisions associated with Face Lift surgery. At the conference, Dr. Kridel presented two lectures on the topic: “Evaluation and Treatment of the Aging Face” and “Simplifying Face Lifts”. In addition, Dr. Kridel presented a panel discussion on “What is New and Exciting in My Area”, to share his insights as a leader in facial plastic surgery advances and innovations. Double-board certified facial plastic surgeons like Dr. Kridel, focus on the surgery of the face, head and neck. They have had extremely extensive training, even more so than a general plastic surgeon. They are board certified in Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery. And, by undertaking an additional year’s fellowship in facial plastic surgery, they have become certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS).
