FPSA Office-Based Surgery Facility Certified by AAAHC

We are so proud to share the news that our office-based Facial Plastic Surgery Associates (FPSA) Surgery Facility in Houston, TX, has been certified by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). AAAHC is an independent, not-for-profit organization, that completes an extensive assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. Status as an AAAHC accredited organization distinguishes our office-based surgery center from many other outpatient facilities. It means Facial Plastic Surgery Associates has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC. Going through the accreditation process is voluntary and extremely thorough. More than 5,000 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC. However, not all facilities put themselves through this expensive and complex process and not all that go through the process actually achieve certification. In addition, through the accreditation process, FPSA Associate, Dr. Angela Sturm O'Brien became a Board-Certified Infection Preventionist with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC). An Infection Preventionist is someone in the healthcare field that studies about the potential infections that a patient can acquire and how to prevent them. As the Board-Certified Infection Preventionist for our operating facility, Dr. Sturm-O'Brien acts as the "go to" for reporting infections, practices to prevent infections (handwashing, etc) and planning for any construction or changes in the layout in the facility and how it will impact the patients. What does this mean to our patients?

Seeing the AAAHC logo displayed in our front office says more than our facility is accredited --- it gives patients the peace of mind that we care about them having the best care possible and that we hold ourselves to the highest standards. Status as an AAAHC accredited organization means Facial Plastic Surgery Associates has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care. As Dr. Russell Kridel, facial plastic surgeon, says, "I am so pleased. Our patients deserve the best.
