Overview

Many men and women make the decision to have a facelift (also known as rhytidectomy) to help reverse the visible signs of aging. The term “facelift” is actually a face and neck lift because the surgery re-supports the cheek, jawline, and neck. A facelift requires meticulous dissection performed in layers to achieve the most natural, long-lasting results. Dr. Kridel and Dr. Delaney tailor every facelift to the individual with the unique Multi-Vector Positioning Lift (MVP) approach. During your initial consultation, Dr. Kridel and Dr. Delaney will also utilize computer-simulated imaging to help you visualize the surgical results you can expect.

What Sets Us Apart

Dr. Kridel and Dr. Delaney are facial plastic surgeons specializing in aesthetic surgery strictly for the areas of the neck and up. Dr. Kridel has pioneered surgical techniques for facelift surgery that are now taught in medical schools across the country. He has published over 30 scientific journal articles and book chapters on facial rejuvenation surgeries. In addition to the MVP Lift, Dr. Kridel is also recognized for his “hidden incisions” technique, making it virtually impossible to detect scars. Our patients refer others, as well as their own family members to Dr. Kridel for his superior surgical skill and expertise in facelift surgery. Dr. Delaney has studied under Dr. Kridel and employs the same surgical techniques.

What To Expect

Improvements from an MVP facelift surgery last 10 to 15 years.  A facelift does not permanently prevent aging, but it does shift back the hands of time. The person with a facelift never looks as old as they would have if they had not had the operation.

Facelift surgery using the MVP lift approach usually takes about 5 hours and is typically performed under iv sedation. Both our local Houston, Texas and out-of-town patients spend the first night in the comfort of an adjoining Hilton hotel under the care of a registered nurse. At FPSA, we pride ourselves on the level of detail and post-operative care.  You will visit our office the next day after surgery for a follow-up, and the initial dressing will be replaced. You will have multiple follow-up visits during the first two weeks and throughout the year, including one to wash your hair a few days after surgery. Most patients are back to their regular routines within 10 days.

Before the surgery, Dr. Kridel & his staff made sure I understood everything that would happen leading up to the surgery & post surgery. Throughout the process, of pre & post surgery, Dr. Kridel bedside manners were excellent. He always answered any questions or concerns. Having just past my 6 month anniversary from the surgery, my facelift is flawless. I couldn't be a happier with the results. Having gone to Dr. Kridel was the best surgeon one could find.

I’m very happy with the result of my Botox and fillers treatments by Dr. Delaney. Dr. Delaney is very patient and attentive. I have had Botox done in various places and Dr. Delaney is the only one called the day after to check on me. I’m planning to have some laser treatments in the near future and even a face lift by Dr. Delaney when the time comes.

During facelift surgery, sagging skin is repositioned, excess fat, tissue and skin are removed, and the underlying musculature is re-suspended with permanent sutures to make the lift last longer. Dr. Kridel and and Dr. Delaney’s goal is to have an outcome that appears natural, not a tight “wind-tunnel” look. Therefore the skin is re-draped in an upward and slightly posterior direction to give a natural look to the face. Extra time is also taken to hide incisions around the ear and back into the hair, while preserving the hair in front and behind the ears.

Expected Cost

The MVP Facelift addresses both the face and neck. Award-winning facial plastic surgeons, Dr. Russell Kridel and Dr. Sean Delaney are well known in Houston for the “most natural facelift” for a “younger you” not a different you. Dr. Kridel pioneered the peer respected “invisible incision” technique, which is also utilized by Dr. Delaney.  Cost for MVP Facelift range from $20,500 to $33,000 and includes surgical fees, PRP, FPSA OR (operating room) and Anesthesia fees. You will be in the best of hands.

About Us
Typical Results?

The improvements that result from an MVP Lift last around 10 to 15 years. No operation can permanently prevent aging, but a facelift improves the appearance of the face by creating a younger look than can provide dramatic and long-lasting improvement.

What About Scarring?

Using painstaking thoroughness, Dr. Kridel and Dr. Delaney will make incisions in inconspicuous locations, which means facelift scars (inevitable anytime an incision is made) will be in the hair or natural facial creases, making them virtually undetectable even to your hairdresser.

Combining Procedures?

It is very common for Dr. Kridel and Dr. Delaney to combine facelift surgery with other surgical or non-surgical procedures. This can be quite beneficial to patients to avoid having anesthesia multiple times. While a facelift does not get rid of fine wrinkles or creases around the mouth and eyes, the surgeon can use a CO2 laser in these areas or the full face to remove the fine lines and revitalize skin texture. Many patients also have submental liposuction done at the same time to remove the fatty pouch under the chin. Some patients also combine facelift with eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, to remove the upper eyelid drooping and under eye bags.

Lunchtime or Quick Lift?

There has been a great deal of marketing for lifting treatments referred to by names such as the mini-lift, the weekend lift, and the lunchtime lift. Most of these "drive-thru” lifts rely on very minimal, if any, dissection. Therefore, the longevity of the results from such techniques is short-lived – only about 2-3 years and can leave visible scars. Dr. Kridel and Dr. Delaney do not perform these types of procedures. Instead, they will recommend other non-surgical options, such as laser treatment or injectable fillers. For patients with significant signs of aging, including jowls and sagging skin, a proper surgical facelift will be more appropriate and have lasting results.

How Common?

Due to exposure to the elements, genetics, gravity’s force, and the passage of time, it’s inevitable that facial skin will show signs of aging. Modern medicine has allowed individuals to have facelift surgery with exceptional results, making it a very common surgery. In fact, many men and women have a facelift earlier, with the first evidence of loose facial skin, wrinkles, and pouches in the cheeks, jawline, and neck.
